Inclusive Design
For a design research project, I wanted to highlight the many factors that go into making designed objects accessible for everyone. When you think of the word accessibility you may only think of it in terms of disabilities, but there are other factors at play.
Another part of inclusivity in design is thinking about cultural barriers and differences. Colors vary in meaning across cultures and shouldn’t solely be relied on for meaning. In western cultures, white is a symbol of purity and is worn at weddings. In Asian cultures, white is the color of mourning. Designers also need to keep in mind that not everyone in the world speaks English.
there are also economical factors in design. If you are designing an app, does your audience have access to smartphones and high-speed internet?
